Hiking - Steel Town 20
Consett Hiking Group was set-up to facilitate guided walks for the benefit of the community. They aim to stimulate physical activity, improve stamina and good health, by encouraging people to walk, in a non-competitive, social environment, towards improving their wellness and mental health, through green exercise; whilst exploring and discovering the local countryside, history, wildlife and heritage.
Walks are free, convivial, and can be tailored to meet the needs of specific community groups. One of the popular longer distance walks that they organise is the Steel Town 20, which seems to get bigger and better each year its run.

This years ST20 attracted over 120 people and was started by local MP Richard Holden. The 20 mile route from Consett Rugby Club followed paths through beautiful countryside and along the river Derwent before returning to the rugby club.
