Terry Forster - Northumbrian Piper
and Biking Charity Fund Raiser
Terry Forster is a Farmer from Snods Edge (do they ever retire?) he is also a passionate musician and lover of the Northumberland Pipes, the only musical instrument to be named after any County in the Country. Terry has been playing them for over 40 years after first hearing ‘Lance Robson‘ play them at Bywell Country Show and asking him what they were, prior to that Terry was more into Drums and Guitars but just loved the sound of the pipes. Lance became a lifelong friend and went on to teach Terry how to play the pipes. Terry became passionate about all pipes and now has added both Scottish Bagpipes and Irish pipes to his instruments but it’s the Northumberland Pipes that remain his first love. Terry went onto help start the local Northumbrian Pipers Group – that still meets at Beamish Museum monthly.
However most people will know Terry not from his pipe playing but from his charitable work raising funds for Brain Tumour Research. He combines Piping, his beloved Harley Davison Bike and a love of Fancy Dress to perform as The Biking Vikings -
