Down on the allotments
'Dig for Victory' was a campaign set up during WWII by the British Ministry of Agriculture to encourage people to grow their own food in times of harsh rationing. During the first Corona Lockdown people copied this message and headed to the allotments.
Many had worked allotments for years, but some were keen to have one for the first time. These photos show varied allotments around the area from the start of Lockdown right up to the end of summer when people harvested the fruits of their hard work.
