Durham Army Cadet Force - Consett detachment
For a blend of action, adventure, camaraderie, and enjoyment, Durham Army Cadet Force stands out. With a robust community comprising over 700 cadets (aged 12-18) and 200 adults spread across 30 locations throughout County Durham, it ranks among the nation's most prominent voluntary youth organizations.
The Consett detachment parades twice a week at its Parliament Street base, on Tuesdays and Thursdays
from 7 pm to 9 pm.
Their diverse range of activities cater for various interests—some carry a military theme, while others emphasise community engagement. Regardless of the focus, each activity is designed to ignite the spirit of young individuals, encouraging them to push their boundaries, foster independence, build confidence, and equip themselves to confront any challenge head-on.

We joined members of the Cadets just in time as they prepared and then took part in the Remembrance Parade at Consett's War Memorial. The dedication and rigorous training they underwent leading up to the event undeniably bore fruit, as they showcased exceptional discipline and were a source of pride for both the Detachment and the broader Army community. Consett's cadets, were joined on the parade by cadets from neighbouring Derwentside detachments, Annfield Plain and Stanley.
