Fire Cadets - Consett
We met the fire cadets at this year's Remembrance Day Parade and were invited to photograph one of their training sessions at Consett Fire Station.
The Fire Cadets in Consett train at Consett Fire Station every Wednesday evening from 6 to 8:30 for their. Open to individuals aged 13 and above, these sessions are guided by seasoned firefighters. Participants are exposed to a range of activities that covers various aspects of firefighting expertise, excluding the actual extinguishing of fires. These activities include mastering the use of breathing apparatus, acquiring ladder skills, and engaging in searches in complete darkness within the station premises. Beyond the enjoyment factor, this training serves as a valuable opportunity for participants to grasp essential skills, providing them a great foundation should they aspire to pursue a career in the
Fire and Rescue Service.
