Scout section of 1st. Consett Scout Group
The Scout section of 1st. Consett Scout Group had an evening learning how to make and light a fire in braziers. And then, when they were successful, they were able to cook a flatbread filled with cheese and vegetables and then eat it. It did take a while for the fires to get going (like our own BBQ's) but with careful preparation and determination they were all lit. As you can see from the photos, some rather large knives were being used but were done so in very sensible and safe ways. The food at the end was very popular too.
This is the most senior group at Consett and range in age from 10 1/2 to 14. The Scouts aim to challenge young people to develop new skills, leadership abilities and resilience whilst, all the time, having great fun. They meet at the Scout Hut in Constance St , Consett and for more information they have a website www.consettscouts.org.uk
