Heather Griffiths - Sculptor and Ceramic Artist
Heather, a former Art Teacher, now living at Castleside is a very talented sculptor. She uses clay as her medium of choice and creates various pieces based on themes.
She is self-taught but uses her Art based background to great effect, as she works through the full process of making and pressing a mould for the shoes (boots and clogs). Sculpting and finishing the shoe and finally decorating the surface before firing and glazing. The final sculptures are very impressive and look great inside or outside as they make great plant pots, real or artificial plants, depending on if you have a green thumb!

Other current themes for her work are 'ferns', which equally look great inside the house or in the garden as I was extremely fortunate to enjoy seeing them when visiting Heather.
As well as sculpting Heather also hosts workshops where she is happy to share her skills and encourage people to try 'clay' for themselves.
