Cub Scouts of 1st. Consett Scout Group
The Cub Scouts of 1st. Consett Scout Group had a great evening during the summer, at the Ebchester Boat House. They learnt to paddle board and canoe in the beautiful setting of the Derwent Valley. They were supervised by adults from the Sea Scouts and members of Consett Army Cadets. The children and their parents had a fabulous evening, the weather was fine and the water fairly warm and the children had no worries about falling in (unlike the parents!). It was amazing to see how confident they were standing on the paddle boards for the first time and just taking off.
Cub Scouts range in age from 8 - 10 1/2 and can then progress into the scouts. They are one of the six sections of 1st. Consett Scouts which number around 130 members. The Scouts aim to build confidence, bring people together and develop leadership and learn new skills. They meet at the Scout Hut in Constance St , Consett and for more information they have a website - www.consettscouts.org.uk
