County Councillors still working
There have been so many good stories to come out of the pandemic period but occasionally we must highlight the bad. Fly-tipping increased across our area during the first Lockdown and has continued ever since.
This was inline with the whole country as many waste facilities closed in late March 2020 after Prime Minister Boris Johnson said people should stay at home, except for essential travel. This prompted calls in April for tips to be reopened but even when they did reopen numbers of users were severely restricted due to social distancing measures. Despite the queues waiting at the tips there is simply no excuse for dumping your rubbish in the countryside!
It was refreshing to see local councillors (Stephen Robinson and Councillor Peter Oliver) going out of their way to investigate reports of tipping in their area and prosecute the offenders responsible.
