They run classes from ages 2 upwards, from tiny tot fun introduction dance classes to a competition team of 40 children who compete weekly around the country. Classes include PopDance - a fun, upbeat style of dance to popular and classic chart songs which gets everyone involved and enjoying dance. They also train in freestyle disco and compete with this style - a fast, energetic, gymnastic style of dance which incorporates high kicks, splits and turns with sparkles and glitter to dazzle to the audience!
Some of the competition team's achievements include World Champion 2022, World Championship team group winners, East of England Champion winners, Carl Alan Award nominees and numerous more trophies and titles. They train 4 times a week and dedicate their time and efforts to becoming champion standard dancers and some becoming professionals in the future. DanceMax has just recently sent one of their members Jake Beet off on a fully funded scholarship to Addict Dance Academy, with their members going on after graduating to dance on X Factor, BGT, cruise ships and the West End.
The dance school caters for both fun, weekly dance classes, to exams and competitions. Kirstin, and newly qualified teacher Erin Martin teach on Saturdays for new members. The entire school from the 2 year olds upwards participated last year in the Northern Counties Dance Teachers Association exam framework, and they achieved a 100% pass rate with Honours marks and above. Before being disrupted by Covid, the school performed locally at fairs and shows, and hopes to get back to those kinds of events this year. They are also hoping to reinstate a successful toddler group which was running and serving the local community.
