Consett Ladies FC
Women's football is not a new sport but it is certainly enjoying a period of unrivalled success and increased interest, this may be partly due to the success of the England Lionesses recently in the Euros and the increased coverage on mainstream TV . Locally we have always had strong teams and great individuals, such as Jill Scott and Steph Houghton (both ex-Sunderland AFC Ladies and England).
Consett Ladies play in the Durham FA County Women’s League Division 1, they play their matches at Belle View Stadium, a purpose-built community sports facility and has the benefit of the latest state-of-the-art 3G playing surface.
The Ladies are having a great season, currently 2nd place in the league and pushing for promotion, and have enjoyed great runs in the FA Cup (reaching the 2nd round for the first time in their history, being knocked out by Stockport County Ladies), and the County Cup (reaching the quarter finals before being knocked out on penalties by Darlington).
You are always guaranteed a great afternoon watching the Ladies play, so why not visit Belle View and enjoy a great game of football.
